Neil is a professionally qualified Mechanical Designer. Apart from designing etching and lithographic presses, other industrial products include roller diecutting presses, dust collectors, transformers and mud brick buildings.
In 1965 Neil established his first business; making display boards and educational accessories. In 1968 he commenced making etching presses part-time; moving to full-time status in 1972. A busy period followed, making etching, lithographic and industrial roller presses and associated accessories until 1992. 1993 saw a shift away from industrial products, a major redesign of etching presses in the light of industrial trends, and concentration on the fine art equipment market.
Neil's approach to engineering design is the creative application of pragmatic manufacturing principles and processes. Aesthetics form an important part of his design work. He is a hands-on engineer with practical manufacturing skills covering various aspects of machining, welding and finishing of mechanical products.
Born in 1943, Neil comes from a strong engineering family background. His father was Col.Ray Jeffery of the Royal Australian Engineers. His mother was Lilian Hilditch of Adelaide. Neil's great grandfather was Thomas Jeffery; first engineer to the parliaments of Victoria and Australia. Thomas Jeffery's son was the second engineer to the parliament of Victoria. The Hilditch family also contains many engineers.
Neil is proud to be married to Denise Harvey (more engineers in the line). Together, they have daughters Nicole and Amber and son Stuart.
